Feminist Fallout: Plot Twist

Feminist narratives are becoming increasingly rancid and are redefining society.

What began as a movement striving for equality has largely become an ideology fostering hate, revenge and the abandonment of femininity.

Every so often, a research thread takes an unexpected turn. One of the “Future Features” I quietly parked on my homepage — Feminist Fallout Part Two — has done exactly that. What began as an investigation into shifting gender norms and their social consequences has now attracted the attention of a publisher.

We’ve had an initial conversation, the kind where both sides circle the idea to see whether it has legs. I outlined my intention for the piece: a data driven examination of how feminist narratives intersect with psychology, behaviour, and social outcomes. As always, my aim is to follow the evidence wherever it leads, even if that means challenging fashionable assumptions or stepping outside the boundaries of what’s currently considered politically correct.

Whether that’s the book they want is another question entirely.

Publishing, after all, has its own gravitational pull. There’s a market for the incendiary, for sensationalism, and for the kind of writing that generates more heat than light. But that’s not what I do – not intentionally anyway – and I’m not interested in producing a mirror image version of the polemics that already dominate the book stores.

If this project moves forward, it will be because the publisher is on board with my usual, research anchored approach — I’m not interested in producing a vapid, Clementine Ford-esque hit piece that masquerades as analysis.

I know many of you take note of the “Future Features” section, and this topic has already sparked a surprising amount of interest, so it seems appropriate to let you know how the scope of the project may have changed. The core research continues, but the format it eventually takes — be it a simple article, a book, or something else — will depend on how these discussions unfold.

For now, nothing is signed, sealed, or guaranteed. But it’s an intriguing development, and one I thought was worth sharing. Whatever shape Feminist Fallout Part Two ultimately takes, the goal remains the same: to examine the evidence honestly and contribute something meaningful to the conversation about feminism.

More updates soon.
