Following the end of World War II, several Japanese battalions remained hidden in the remote jungles of the Pacific for decades, completely unaware that Japan had surrendered. Isolation and outdated ideology blinded men like Hiroo Onoda who dismissed official reports of peace as enemy propaganda, continuing to fight a war that had long been lost. These historical event bear a striking parallel to modern feminism. A movement that began as a vital struggle for basic rights now continues to wage a relentless campaign against an invisible “patriarchy,” long after the foundational battles for equality have been resolved. In the modern West, women possess unprecedented institutional advantages and personal freedoms, excelling across education, corporate hiring, and legal frameworks. Yet, much like those isolated holdouts in the Pacific, many contemporary feminist activists remain entrenched in hostility, refusing to recognise that the landscape has shifted. By examining the current systemic advantages enjoyed by women, this essay will argue that the feminist war against oppression is over, and its continued pursuit serves only to fracture male-female relations and destabilise broader society.
